Weatherbit Data Source
Weatherbit data is collected from numerous weather stations around the world.
This data is integrated daily at an hourly time interval and is available year-round. It is retrieved via the "Energy" API.
Degree Days Calculation Method
Some data provided by Weatherbit originates from Météo France stations, meaning the raw measurements (temperature, humidity, precipitation, etc.) have been taken at Météo France stations.
These stations can be identified on the Weatherbit map by the presence of a Météo France identifier.
Important Note : Although the raw data from Météo France can be used for the relevant stations, Degree Days are not calculated using the "Weather" method but instead the "Integration" method, resulting in different outcomes.
As the name suggests, this method integrates, meaning it approximates as closely as possible the difference between the threshold and actual temperatures. Instead of calculating at the daily level, the calculation is performed at the same time interval as the temperature data collection. If temperatures are recorded hourly, the difference between the received value and the reference is calculated hour by hour and then divided by 24. At the end of the day, the 24 "degree-hours" are summed to obtain the number of degree days.
While this method may seem more precise, it is not widely used.
